Use the lobby route when you want a break
Open the pause menu during a shift and choose SAVE & RETURN TO LOBBY. The game attempts to store your progress before returning. When an unfinished shift exists, the SHIFT page presents RESUME SHIFT. Choose it to continue that saved run rather than preparing a new role and replacing the equipment you were using.
If you try to prepare another shift while one remains open, the game explains that your current progress will not be overwritten. It offers a choice to resume or explicitly abandon. Read that distinction carefully: returning to the lobby pauses your attempt, while abandonment files an outcome and ends the current kit.
Know what the local save remembers
The saved run includes the current room and phase, vitality, barrier, equipment layout, shop offers, chosen target, encounter progress and temporary or archived bonuses. It also records the selected role, challenge tier and protocols. Resuming is intended to restore the same tactical situation, including an unfinished Archive or route decision, instead of starting a fresh version of that room.
The personnel profile stores your local call sign and emblem, earned XP, unlocks, discoveries, settings and recent incident history. These records are separate from the current run's combat bonuses. Ending a shift can preserve its earned personnel progress without carrying its equipment or archived power into the next attempt.

Saving happens during play as well as on pause
The current build attempts saves after meaningful actions such as buying or moving equipment, changing a target, rerolling offers, using Short Circuit and making checkpoint choices. It also attempts to save when the active game loses focus or moves into the background. The pause menu gives you a visible place to check whether its save succeeded before leaving.
Those save attempts do not mean every possible interruption is harmless. A storage problem or an abrupt termination can prevent the latest state from reaching the device's file storage. Use the explicit pause-and-save route when practical, and pay attention to any failure message rather than assuming that an animation or a changed number proves the write completed.
Keep the app open if saving fails
A save failure asks you to keep the app open, free storage or restore access, then choose RETRY SAVE. The game checks available space before writing and preserves the previous complete save when a replacement write fails. That previous save may be older than the actions currently visible on screen, so closing the game can lose progress made after it.
Do not delete the app or clear its local data as your first response to a save warning. That may remove the record you are trying to protect. Resolve the displayed problem, retry, and check that the warning clears. If it continues, open Settings, then HELP & PRIVACY, and use the support contact shown there to describe what happened.
Treat the final report as another save checkpoint
When a shift ends, the report shows earned XP split between shift and assignment rewards, plus any new unlocks. If that result could not be saved, the heading says NOT SAVED and the next-action button becomes RETRY SAVE. Keep that result open and retry rather than immediately starting another attempt or assuming the personnel record has been safely filed.
The save system is designed to settle a run once, including when a write is retried. Reopening or retrying a report is not intended to award its XP again. In FILES, INCIDENT HISTORY retains the last twenty shifts, including their builds and outcomes. It is a record for reviewing decisions, not a list of separate save slots you can replay.
Offline play does not create a recovery account
The current gameplay and local progression do not require an online sign-in. Your personnel call sign is a label stored with the profile, not an account that can retrieve progress from a server. HUSHFLOOR does not provide its own cloud-save synchronization in this build. A profile on one installation should not be assumed to appear automatically on another device.
Device backup and transfer behavior depends on the operating system and the owner's settings. Manage those separately before replacing a device or removing local data. Opening a support website or sending an email also uses services outside offline gameplay. The game does not attach your save automatically; include the version, device, screen and steps needed to explain a problem.
A couple of details.
Does ABANDON SHIFT work like saving and quitting?
No. It ends the current attempt and its kit cannot be resumed. Completed rooms still contribute to the earned result under the progression rules. Use SAVE & RETURN TO LOBBY when you intend to continue later.
Can support restore my progress from my call sign?
The current game has no server copy associated with your call sign. Support can help investigate a problem, but the badge is not a recovery account. Protect the installation's local data and review your device's backup options separately.
